Nowadays, societies are becoming more and more data-centric, data-dependent, and automated. Indeed, communication networks will provide the nervous backend of these new smart system paradigms. In particular, the potent combination of 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and smart platforms will entirely transform our world into a new digital and smart era. While 5G is still at an initial stage and being deployed around the world, efforts from industry and academia have been devoted to utilize 5G and beyond AI empowered wireless networks as platforms for providing intelligent connectivity. Motivated by these megatrends, the objective of this talk is to provide an overview on the main technologies towards new AI-empowered wireless networks. Undoubtedly, AI and machine learning will be the inherent parts of such networks with a lot of implementation challenges including, but not limited to, scalability, robustness, and distributed structure of data sets. Furthermore, trust is a new term related to AI-based procedures and applications in these networks. In this talk, we will review the most recent concepts, standardization activities, and industrial projects in this context.
